EBLIDA present at the Poster session of the 78th IFLA conference in Helsinki

EBLIDA (the European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations) will be actively present during the 78th IFLA General Conference and Assembly with a poster presentation on 13 and 14 August in Helsinki (Finland).

Background Information:

In the recent years, EBLIDA noticed a lack of awareness of politicians with regards to the development of the e-books market and its impact on libraries. The changes brought by this increasing market along with the changes of end-users’ reading habits challenged the current libraries missions. In this context how do libraries deal with such issues? What can libraries propose to their end-users? How can EBLIDA help to introduce viable models to access to e-content?

To tackle this issue, EBLIDA launched during its 20th Annual Conference in Copenhagen (Denmark) in May 2012 the first step of its European Campaign on e-books in libraries.

EBLIDA Director will be happy to discuss with you the issues at stake, and to present you the poster that will mainly focus on the role EBLIDA plays in addressing the need for changes.

The content of the poster will be based on the work done by EBLIDA’s expert group on Information Law, the position paper released during the annual conference of EBLIDA (held in May 2012 in Copenhagen) and the last development in the Campaign.

The poster will be written in English and can be explained in both the English and the French languages.
