An EBLIDA Executive Committee (EC) extraordinary online meeting

The EBLIDA Executive Committee (EC) held an extraordinary online meeting on 26 March 2020 to discuss the critical situation facing libraries during the current Covid-19 outbreak. The EBLIDA Executive Committee’s first thoughts go to all people who are at the forefront of the war against the invisible viral enemy. We wish to express our deepest sympathy to EBLIDA Members, their families, and librarians who are coping with the current crisis in one way or another. It is a difficult time for all of us which is impacting on human and professional lives.

Some of the decisions taken by the EC:
- EBLIDA EC reviewed the library situation in the countries that were represented at the meeting and, especially, the role that Library Associations are playing. The results of this review will be included in a soon-to-be published EBLIDA Newsletter on the basis of an EBLIDA Checklist.
The EBLIDA Secretariat is ready to publish additional issues of the Newsletter including an evaluation of the impact of Covid-19 on libraries, together with opinions coming from the EBLIDA community.
28th EBLIDA Annual Council Meeting & Conference
Council Meeting
- EBLIDA EC also decided to decouple the EBLIDA Conference from the EBLIDA Annual Council. The EBLIDA Annual Council needs to approve several official EBLIDA documents; a meeting will be held in the second half of 2020.
EBLIDA Conference
- The decision was also taken to cancel the 2020 EBLIDA Conference in Belgrade and to examine different options for an EBLIDA event in the future.
LIBER-EBLIDA workshop
- It was also decided to maintain the joint LIBER-EBLIDA workshop on Citizen science supporting sustainable development goals: the possible role of libraries and to transform it into a webinar.
Please note:
