Ciara Eastell

Ciara Eastell is the current President of the Society of Chief Librarians (SCL), which represents the leaders and managers of public library services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

In December 2015, Ciara became Chief Executive of Libraries Unlimited, a new social enterprise which will deliver library services across Devon from April 2016. Libraries Unlimited's vision is to bring ideas, imagination, knowledge and creativity to people's lives and communities. Devon's libraries are known for innovation and the Central Library in Exeter has the first Fab Lab in a UK public library.

Ciara has 20 years of experience working in various library and library management roles across England and she brings a fresh perspective to public libraries and a passion for the impact libraries make in their communities. The first Library Fellow to participate in the Clore Leadership Programme for cultural leaders, Ciara is particularly interested in public sector innovation, workforce development and digital literacy. She is passionate about the potential of public libraries, the value of reading and the power of information to transform lives.
