A joint call for a Library Manifesto for Europe
We are coming to a decisive turn: European elections are taking place in May.
We want that the next Parliament takes libraries into consideration and pursues ideals such as freedom of expression, free access to information, reading, literacy, social inclusion and other values that are at the core of the library’s missions.
EBLIDA has co-signed a Library Manifesto for Europe - an activity that is coordinated by IFLA and finds partners in PL 2030, LIBER and SPARC Europe.
Advocacy with the European Union is also Strand 1 of the new EBLIDA Strategic Plan that is going to be approved at the EBLIDA Annual Council. This Manifesto is being sent to Irish MEP Ms Mairead McGuinness, who is an invited speaker to the EBLIDA-NAPLE Annual Conference in Dublin.
